How To choose the perfect upholstry fabric?

What is Performance Fabrics and what is it used for?

REOLUTION – Made of polypropylene for stain resistance without added chemicals.
CRYPTON – Treatment embedded in every fiber for stain resistance that doesn’t wear off.
INDOOR/OUTDOOR – Acrylic fibers that are resistant to stain and fading and that often have an additional moisture barrier applied.

Natural

Natural fibers are from plants and are soft & versatile

Cotton – soft & breathable, may wrinkle or fade.

Linen – cool & resists pilling, may wrinkle.

Rayon – made from wood pulp, adds durability to other fibers.

Synthetic.

Synthetic fibers are man-made and durable.

Acrylic – lightweight & soft, resists wear & wrinkling.

Nylon – very strong & stain resistant, sensitive to sun.

Polyester – strong & durable, adds resiliamce to other fibers.

A fabric with this score is suitable as a decorative fabric. Use for cushions or accents. Not suitable for general domestic or furniture upholstery.



10,000 to 15,000
Suitable for light domestic use such as occasional furniture. It will be dry clean only and is often for fabrics made from delicate yarns.



15,000 to 25,000
Suitable for general domestic use. For everyday use on main house furniture. Not suitable for items of furniture that put a high level of stress in the fabric, such as a recliner.



25,000 to 30,000
Heavy domestic use. A heavy duty fabric that would be suitable for light commercial use and items such as recliners and other motion furniture.



30,000 or More
A fabric with this score is suitable for commercial use, it can be used on heavy duty furniture.
